Andong city South Korea is a city in North Gyeongsang Province and has the reputation of being the largest city in the northern part of the province. The city features Nakdong River which flows through the city. Andong Korea is a region which is primarily agricultural based and the Andong acts as a market centre for the surrounding area. The city is a good starting point from where to explore all the numerous cultural sites in the surrounding area. Many districts have still managed to maintain the traditional way of life for dozens of generations. Theses tourist areas have regions where they have continuously preserved their way of life, with families still living in that style and using the very same buildings.

Andong Korea has witnessed rapid development since the 1970s though the population has seen a sharp decline as many have shifted to more urban areas. From the late 1990s and early 2000s Andong city South Korea has became a tourism and cultural centre. The city has become known as a centre of culture and folk traditions. This becomes more evident during the Andong Folk Festival is held every year and the most famous aspects of these cultural festivities are the Andong masks. The adjoining areas have maintained many ancient traditions.

When it comes to food andong city South Korea is known for its apples, beef, soju and shikhye. Heotchae sabap is a meal which is this region‘s specialty, that the lower class created copying the tan upper class ceremonial banquet meal. The meal includes rice, herbs and vegetables, t'angguk (soup made with meat and radishes), and sanjeok (Korean shishkabob made with meat and seafood). This food is very popular among the tourists as it’s less spicy as other Korean food.

The city andong Korea may not be a shopper’s dream but the Andong Market specializes in hemp cloth and masks which are the highlights and good buys. It has in fact numerous markets, as it functions as the central trading area for the surrounding areas. The locally produced cloth is especially famous.
